

General Information

Playschool is available to children who are 3-5 years of age and must be 3 years of age in order to attend Playschool. Children who are 2 years of age can attend, but must be accompanied by an adult.

In order to register in Playschool children MUST be completely potty trained.

Playschool year runs from September through May & registrations are accepted YEAR ROUND.

Class times

Morning classes run from 8:30am to 11:30am offered Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.

Afternoon classes run from 12:00pm to 3:00pm offered Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday

Financial Commitment

PLEASE NOTE: The Alberta Government has implemented the Affordability Grant and is applicable to all children attending Early Learning Programs. Monthly cost is as followed with the reflection of the fees after the affordability grant has been applied:

Fees owing:

1 Day a week = $10.00/month (after affordability grant is applied)

2 Days a week = $30.00/month (after affordability grant is applied)

3 Days a week = $50.00/month (after affordability grant is applied)

Fee plans can be arranged and either be made in one lump sum, bi-yearly, or monthly.

A $50.00 non-refundable registration fee is required at the time of registration.

Volunteer Bond Point Program
-
David Thompson Playschool is a parent run program and will require the parent to volunteer your time to the school to ensure that the program continues successfully throughout the year.
-
Each activity throughout the year are assigned a certain number of bond points.
-
Volunteer bond points are recorded and maintained for each family for the year.
-
*It is up to each family to ensure their participation is recorded in the volunteer bond point binder located at the sign in desk.

Every family is expected to assist the Playschool through various volunteer work and fundraising activities such as:

Parent Helper (3 pts per shift)
-
Board/Parent Meetings (2 pts per meeting)
-
Becoming a Board Director (5 pts for the year)
-
Fundraising (Fundraising options and bond points will be decided at board/parent meetings)
-
Casino fundraiser (Participate every 4 years and is mandatory participation)

Expect to provide a "Family Volunteer Bond" cheque
-
The bond will be in the from of a cheque post-dated for the end of school year and will be returned to parents if the required amount of bond points has been acquired.

If a family does not fulfill its commitment as outlined, the bond cheque will be cashed at the end of the year (May 31st).

(*Note: That these totals are per family and not per child. For example; If you have two children attending 1 day a week, you would be required to have the same amount of bond points as a family sending one child, 1 day a week.)-
